Slash & Burn II

With Marcin Dudek

In spring 2021 we worked with the artist Marcin Dudek on an installation for the exhibition Slash & Burn II, which took place in Harlan Levey projects in Brussels.

For the installation numerous jackets were sewn together, creating one immerse bomber jacket, shown here to the side:

Shifting Territories, developed by Every Island and Bebe Books, is a nomadic, performative platform designed as both a movable installation and a framework for exploring the notions of landscape and dwelling. The project challenges traditional domesticity, viewing it not as a fixed concept tied to a house but as a social construct shaped by interactions and performances in urban spaces.

Sew for Life contributed by making malleable, oversized bags with printed text and velcro connections to allow for easy detachment. The bags can be stacked to serve as a towering, flexible structure which doubles as both stage and seating. Participants build and interact with the soft form, creating an evolving, collective monument. This architectural gesture turns space into a participatory experience, offering a metaphor for shifting boundaries and communal interaction.

Nocturnes for a Society

With Myriam Van Imschoot & Lucas van Haesbroeck

Nocturnes for a Society premiered during kunstenfestivaldesarts 2023 in KANAL-centre Pompidou K1. Myriam Van Imschoot and Lucas van Haesbroeck provided a space to linger and rest during one night. You were invited to dwell between performance, sleep, dream, and sonic play. Myriam Van Imschoot and Lucas van Haesbroeck wove the piece together with numerous collaborators, also merging the roles of audience and participant. A nocturnal carpet of sound was created by everyone, as we slept with the sounds of the city playing in the background. The audience performed a score by playing with objects, one-another, and the space itself. The communally made track creates the soundscape to which we fell asleep. Slumbering through the night, the environment feed the event, an oasis of light, shadow, sound, textile, and rêverie.
